We moved into our new studio on Broadway Market in January and since then have held lots of workshops here. It’s a brill space for workshops and we’ve loved having lots of people over to learn different crafts and skills, everything from bra making to embroidery! Over the past few months we’ve had a particular focus on embroidery workshops and have had the brilliant Elisalex and Adam Pritchett here teaching classes with us.
Elisalex’s classes focus on refashioning items of clothing using embroidery. We’re talking embroidered denim, jeans gardens and roses on shirt collars. Super cute!
Gabby came to the class and started embroidering onto her backpack. If you’re a sewist and you haven’t watched her Youtube channel yet go and have a look, we love her videos.
Adam Pritchett’s classes are more focussed on the technical aspects of embroidery and on creating delicate, intricate pieces. Rosie met him whilst filming Kirstie’s Handmade Christmas in December and basically begged him to come and run a workshop with us. His work is incredible and it was the first time he’d ever done any teaching – he was brill!
Threads for all of our embroidery classes were provided by DMC, our favourite for using in embroidery, their range of colours is AMAZING. They’ve got a big focus on modern embroidery at the moment too and have the best instagram for inspiration, check them out @DMC_embroidery.
At all of our workshops we have plenty of sweet treats and refreshments available, we’ve got a special penchant for anything pink and sugary…
We’re still loving all things embroidery and have another class with Elisalex coming up in a couple of weeks. There are currently only 2 spots left though so be quick if you want one! On Saturday June 10th we’re also running a special Hand Embroidered Lettering class at the West Elm store on Tottenham Court Road. We’re really excited about the class and would love to see you there.
You can always see all of our upcoming workshops on our Workshop Listing page.
Hope to see you at a class soon!
