Knitted Necklace

This necklace happened completely by accident. I was trying to make another knitted headband but was using stocking stitch (knit and purl alternate rows) and the band curled. Anyone who knows a little bit about knitting would have realised that this would happen… silly me. Anyway, I actually quite liked the tube effect it created and decided to turn it into a necklace!

The yarn I used is quite decorative with different coloured and pearly flecks in it so it looks quite pretty.

ImageH suggested wearing it with a plain grey t-shirt which I think would look really good, I might make her one too!

What do you think? Is knitted jewellery ok?!

Didn’t know whether to tell you or not, but Mervyn said I should as people might want to make the necklace. Alternate knit a row, pearl a row is Stocking Stitch and you’re quite right it curls up. Moss Stitch is alternate knit a stitch, pearl a stitch, depending upon whether you have an even or odd number of stitches, you will get either a rib effect or moss stitch – a sort of chequered effect.   I really like the necklace and I am going to have a go at making one myself.   I have attached a photo of some easter rabbits I made – hope you like them, the one on the right has Moss Stitch at the bottom of her dress.   I am really enjoying your web site. Thank you.   Sue x

Me and Hannah saw necklaces just like these being sold in Brighton… Might have been French connection and they used a kind of mesh fabric but these look just the same!
