If you have read our Summer catch up post then you will know that Rosie got married this Summer. I decided one of her and Aaron’s gifts could be a handmade matching tie and fabric hair flower clips so picked a fabric and got working. The idea for a tie came when I was reading Colette’s blog, the Coletterie and stumbled across this pattern.
I don’t know if you have heard of the coletterie, but they have some really great projects on it and dressmaking tips to use alongside their patterns. I have already made their Laurel dress and I loved how easy it was. This tie pattern is free – which makes it even more appealing!
I am still finding my feet with dressmaking, so I think if I can figure this pattern out then anybody can. I picked this Liberty Hera print and a little scrap of Strawberry Thief to line it with. The one downside is that the tie has to be cut on the bias, which means it requires quite a big piece of fabric.
You can find the tutorial here. And definitely check out Colette’s blog.
Doesn’t Aaron look great in it?!
Rosie is going to share her matching fabric flower clips later this week!
