On Friday we launched two new kits for sale on our shop – hip hip hooray! When we started to make our own products we knew we wanted to encourage people to use traditional craft skills. The first two kits use sewing and English Paper Piecing and these next two use quilting and knitting – the range of crafts is growing! They’re both simple projects but use the best materials that we handpick from UK based suppliers. Read on to find out more about the new kits.
Quilted Make-up Bag Sewing Kit
This kit was so popular at CHSI last weekend. It’s a beginner sewing project that anyone who has basic machine sewing skills can tackle. Yes there’s a zip and some quilting but we promise, you can do it! The construction method is so easy, we don’t even use a zipper foot to put the zip in.
The kit comes with everything you need including a lovely metal teeth zip, batting, thread, lining and main fabric in a choice of five prints from Dashwood. Which is your favourite?
There’s also a fully illustrated instruction booklet to guide you from start to finish. This kit is only £18 and if you buy two you’ll get free postage.
Mittens Knitting Kit
One thing that we find annoying about knitting is that most patterns have added details, colours and textures that we just don’t want. We love a simple mitten shape but couldn’t find a good pattern anywhere. We asked Natalie (find her on Ravelry here) to design us a pattern, then sourced the best yarn we could find from The Fibre Company. Terra is probably the most luxurious yarns we’ve ever used. It’s 40% baby alpaca, 40% merino wool and 20% silk, w-o-w. Couple that with some gorgeous colours all dyed in Cumbria and you’ve got yourself a pair of mittens that your hands and eyes will love you for!
The mitten kit is £28 and that includes yarn, pattern and a set of double pointed needles.
We’re so excited to see people making these latest two kits and are poised ready to send out the first orders, go crazy!
