I’m going to a festival in a couple of weeks and knew I had to make a headband to wear for it. Floral headbands have been EVERYWHERE this summer but some of the high-street ones are quite pricey – making one yourself is a perfect, cheap alternative!
I started by cutting up an old silk top into strips and rolling them into the rose shapes. This is quite hard to describe but actually very easy and there are plenty of video tutorials on YouTube to help. Essentially you fold the strip in half then roll and twist repeatedly… it’s very hard to go wrong when you’re actually doing it I promise!
I stitched through my roses to secure them and attached them to the headband by sewing through them then around the band. The headband itself is an old plastic one I had lying around, I super glued one of the straps from the silk top onto it – luckily it was a perfect fit!
You could create loads of variations of this headband, perhaps by using different fabrics, using multiple colours or changing the sizes of roses. I can’t wait to wear mine to the festival in a couple of weeks; it would also be perfect for a wedding so perhaps I’ll wear it to my own…
P.s. We have a very exciting competition coming up so keep your eyes peeled!
