Simple Spring Skirts

We’re four days into March which means spring has officially begun! My sister and I decided to mark the arrival of one of our favourite seasons by making some new, decidedly un-wintery, skirts. Our pattern cutting/following/sewing skills aren’t great but we picked a simple pattern and we think the results are perfect!

I used a thin crêpe fabric whereas Holly used a stiffer cotton – this meant the same pattern had quite different results. Holly also added a contrasting lower panel which works really well. We’re toying with the idea of creating more skirts from the same pattern, perhaps using plain fabric or experimenting with different fabric weights. I think they may become our S/S wardrobe staples.

I can’t wait to wear mine as the days get warmer, did anyone else think today felt a little bit like summer?! Wishful thinking perhaps!

This is the pattern we used. It really is super simple and has lots of possible variations. Give it a go and show us the results!

Happy springtime.

Oh, these are lovely. So ethereal! And, yes, I also thought of spring. Just posted a blogpost about a dress and skirt I will be making and they are both in a very spring-like fabric and also springy patterns. I think I am more than finished with winter, and also can’t wait for spring!
