Introduction to Pattern Cutting - Create a Skirt and Bodice Block

The workshop will take place in our shop just behind Broadway Market. It's about 15 minutes walk from Bethnal Green tube station, 5 minutes from London Fields and Cambridge Heath overground stations.
PROJECT:
During this intensive 2 day course you will learn step-by-step how to draft a skirt and bodice block based on your own unique measurements.
This introduction to pattern cutting is a great starting point for sewists wanting to create their own patterns and build a solid foundation and understanding of pattern cutting.
Over the 2 days you will learn to draft both blocks, fit them on yourself and learn how to do some basic amendments to turn your block into a style.
STUDENTS WILL LEARN:
+ Basic pattern terminology & introduction to using tools
+ How to draft a skirt and bodice block using their own measurements
+ How to fit and amend the block
+ Basic changes to turn your block into a pattern
CLASS INCLUDES:
+ Pattern cutting tools (pattern master, notcher, pattern drill and tracing wheel, tape measure etc) Please feel free to bring your own tools if you already have some
+ Toiling supplies (calico, pins, threads etc)

TEACHER BIO
Kathryn is an experienced pattern cutter currently working in the industry. After starting at Karen Millen her CV has grown to include London Fashion week brands such as Peter Pilotto and Emilia Wickstead as well as power house brand Topshop. She discovered a love of pattern cutting while studying fashion design at university and hasn't looked back since. After graduating she threw herself headlong into the industry and quickly rose up the ranks. After 7 years of hard grafting she is now keen to share what she has learnt with others and to see her love of pattern cutting spread!
