The workshop will take place in our shop just around the corner from Broadway Market. It's about 15 minutes walk from Bethnal Green tube station, 5 minutes from London Fields and Cambridge Heath Overground stations.
PROJECT
If you're new to sewing and want to improve your skills, this class is for you! In this one day class you'll sew our coziest Everyday Waistcoat pattern - available in both a men's and women's style.The waistcoat is the perfect layering piece for all year round. It works well in a variety of different fabrics and is the perfect garment to get a newbie sewist excited about making their own clothes!
The pattern is available in the following sizes: men's 28-42 inch waist and women's UK size 6-34. If you fall outside of this size bracket and would like to attend please get in touch.
WHAT WILL THIS COURSE COVER?
You will learn:
+ How to measure your body and pick a size
+ How to cut pattern pieces
+ How to cut your fabric and make all necessary markings
+ How to cut fabric pieces on the grain/bias
+ How to read and follow pattern instructions
+ How to make and attach a patch pocket
+ How to make and attach bias binding
WHO IS THIS CLASS FOR?
This class is suitable for anyone who feels confident using a sewing machine and wants to sew the perfect layering garment. Our Everyday Waistcoat pattern is available in both women's UK size 6-34 and men's waist size 28-42.
CLASS INCLUDES:
+ Use of our Pfaff Ambition 635 sewing machines in the classes. If you'd like to learn on your own machine then please do bring it along - please let us know the model in advance and bring your manual with you.
+ All tools and equipment
+ A copy of our Everyday Waistcoat pattern + instructions
+ Drinks and sweet treats to keep you going throughout the class.
STUDENTS NEED TO BRING:
+Fabric (1.5m of your outer fabric, 1m of your lining fabric, 1m of wadding) and matching thread for your waistcoat. We can advise you on what fabrics will work best and you'll be sent through a full list of requirements before the course starts.

We have a dedicated workshop room at the back where you can sew in peace and still see the hustle and bustle of the shop. It's about 15 minutes walk from Bethnal Green tube station, 5 minutes from London Fields and Cambridge Heath Overground stations.
TEACHER
This class is taught by Izzy (@is_sew_bel) a key member of the London sewing community. Izzy makes the most beautiful garments and last year made her whole family Everyday Waistcoats for Christmas. She really is the Everyday Waistcoat expert!
