The drop in mending clinic will take place in our shop just around the corner from Broadway Market. It's about 15 minutes walk from Bethnal Green tube station, 10 minutes from London Fields and Cambridge Heath overground stations.
DROP IN CLASS OVERVIEW
In this drop in clinic we'll have all of the tools and materials you need to fix any garments or accessories and teach you the techniques to do it yourself. We'll have sewing machines and scrap fabrics to fix things like holes and ripped seams or cover up any stains. We'll also have wool and darning tools if you've got any knits that need fixing. Our teacher Kirstie will be on hand all day to help show you how to do it all. Whether you choose visible mending or would prefer something invisible, we'll sort you out. Loved clothes last and we'd love to breathe new life into your old garments and teach you the techniques to fix lots more yourself at home.
WHAT CAN I BRING TO MEND?
Feel free to bring along anything that needs fixing and we'll do our best to help you. Things like small holes or ripped seams will be simple, or worn out denim. Jumpers or scarves with holes in will be great for darning too!
TEACHER BIO
This drop in class is taught by our hugely talented teacher Kirstie. Kirstie has 6 years of experience as both a sewing teacher and as a pattern cutter and designer. Her focus is to provide a calm teaching space to give people the confidence to explore clothes making in a way that matches their needs. In her own practice she is passionate about rebuilding and repurposing to find new methods to work with what is pre-existing.
WHERE?
The class will take place in our shop, just around the corner from Broadway Market. It's about 15 minutes walk from Bethnal Green tube station, 5 minutes from London Fields and Cambridge Heath Overground stations. The studio is at ground floor level with no steps. It is fully accessible and has a fully accessible toilet.
