This ex-designer lace collar comes from Forster Rohner, one of the oldest manufactures of lace. It is a guipure or 'bobinnet' lace. Embroidered motifs are connected with thin plaits of yarn rather than the whole fabric being backed in a mesh. This is a more delicate and labour intensive process than making standard lace and is still done on the original machines.
The collar design features a large daisy-like flower linked with the characteristic plaits. These are sample pieces so are all the right hand side of the collar. To make a pair you would need to flip one over and use the wrong side. Both sides are finished nicely, but the reverse is more matte compared to the fronts satin shine.

We try to take photos that are an accurate representation of our fabrics and their colours, but due to differences between devices and screens the colour may vary slightly. Unfortunately we are unable to offer samples as all of our fabrics are short run end of lines and will likely sell out by the time a sample is delivered. If you'd like to see a video of the fabric or more photos please send us an email or drop us a DM on instagram @newcrafthouse. If you are in London, you can also shop our fabric in person. You can find our opening times here.
*As all of our fabric and trim is deadstock we can't always be sure of the exact composition. We've given our best educated guess above!
