About Us

Studio + Shop

We are a sewing workshop studio and designer deadstock fabric shop based in 32 Bocking Street, Hackney, East London. We run a wide range of specialist sewing workshops alongside beginner classes, have a look at our upcoming schedule here to book. All of the fabric we sell is deadstock, sourced directly from designers. This fabric is all leftover after they've finished creating their collections and would otherwise go to waste. We also stock deadstock haberdashery items from the same designers. In all of our classes we use PFAFF machines and sell the whole PFAFF machine range, you can shop those here

Set up and run by Hannah and Rosie in 2013, we now also have a wonderful team who help us to keep everything running smoothly. These are all of the faces behind the business.

Hannah + Rosie
We're the founders of the business and still head everything up now. Friends since school, we're both keen sewists. When we're not sewing you'll find Rosie with her family in Ramsgate and Hannah on long dog walks with her dog Twigs in East London.

Hayley is our Product Supervisor and is in charge of everything to do with curating fabric collections and keeping our stock in order. Originally from Indiana USA, Hayley has been living in London for a few years and recently completed a degree in Tailoring at London College of Fashion. Obsessed with the tudors, Hayley has a really classic eye for style and a meticulous attention to detail. She also brings us back the best snacks from America! Find her own creations at @alleinebyhayley

Super organised and efficient, Gemma helps us to keep everything in the studio running like clockwork. If you've ever got a problem or query with an order you'll probably be chatting to Gemma to get it sorted. Also a keen sewist and often brightening the studio with her handmade clothes, she actually studied Textile Design at Chelsea so has an eye for beautiful prints.

Molly is our Shop Supervisor and chief packing extraordinaire, brilliant at making sure all of your orders are cut and packed with care. She's also one of the smiley faces you'll see if you ever visit our shop on a Saturday or join us for social sewing one Thursday evening. Molly graduated from a degree in Fine Art: Painting at Camberwell in 2021 and has become a keen sewist in recent years too. We don't know what we'd do without her happy self in the team any more!
Charlotte is the other half of our packing and Saturday shop team. Super friendly and chilled, she's also a textile specialist so ask her all of your technical questions when you bump into her! Charlotte is also currently training to become a Textiles teacher and previously graduated from Central Saint Martins with a Masters in Textiles. Could you find anyone more qualified to talk to about fabric?!

Class Teachers

Kirstie @_eells_ and Ellie @eleanormcdonaldstudio are our teaching team. Both hugely experienced and skilled, they always make sure our classes are friendly and encouraging and that you leave having learnt loads. We also occasionally host guest teachers and specialist makers.
