B Corp™ Certified

B Corporation

The New Craft House is now a certified B Corporation™! It’s been a long and rigorous process to become certified but we’re so proud to have joined the B Corp™ community. We’re now part of a global community of businesses that meet high standards of social and environmental impact, prioritising the wellbeing of our employees, community and the planet over profit. We are all using business as a force for good.

You can find out more about what being a B Corp means at www.bcorporation.net or feel free to ask us any questions you may have. All accredited businesses are committed to continuously aiming for higher environmental and social standards and are re-accredited every three years so our journey doesn’t end here.

As far as we know we’re the first fabric shop to become accredited and we’re so excited to be moving forward the conversation of business for good in our industry. These are the five pillars of impact that we've been scored on.

Our B Corp certification verifies that we meet high standards in all of these areas. Some things that we're particularly proud of as a business are our commitment to paying all staff the London Living Wage, sourcing over 80% of our fabric from local suppliers (designers in London!), sourcing exclusively deadstock fabric, monitoring our carbon emissions annually with a goal to become Net Zero by 2030 and amending our governing documents to ensure our social and environmental performance is prioritised in all future decision making at The New Craft House.

Our B Corp journey doesn't end here! The certification process has highlighted areas where we can improve our social and environmental standards and we'll be keeping you updated on the progress we make.

Our Mission

At The New Craft House we are committed to reducing waste in the fashion industry. Our goal is to educate and inspire our customers to sew a sustainable handmade wardrobe entirely from deadstock fabric, giving them an alternative to fast fashion.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. By arming our customers with the knowledge and tools to sew a more sustainable handmade wardrobe, we're fighting against fast fashion culture and the environmental impact of it.

All of our fabric and haberdashery is true designer deadstock, sourced directly from designers who have it leftover. Much of this surplus fabric and trims would have been destined for landfill or in some cases incinerated. You can shop our fabric knowing that you're helping to reduce waste in the fashion industry.

Sustainability Policy

We are dedicated to continuing to improve our environmental performance annually. To do this we are committed to:

- 100% deadstock fabric sourcing

- Sending zero waste to landfill

- 100% compostable packaging

- Running the shop using 100% low impact renewable energy

- Encouraging our suppliers and stakeholders to lesson their environmental impact

Net Zero

As a member of the UN-backed Race to Zero Campaign, The New Craft House is working to align with the science of keeping global warming to 1.5°C. We conduct an annual assessment of our business's carbon footprint and aim to become net zero by 2030. We have made this commitment public via the SME Climate Hub.
