This ex-designer fabric is guipure or 'bobinnet' lace. Embroidered motifs are connected with thin plaits of yarn rather than the whole fabric being backed in a mesh. This is a more delicate and labour intensive process than making standard lace and is still done on original machines. The design features star like flowers and art deco fans linked with the characteristic plaits. The edge is finished with a scalloped designer of smaller flowers. Heavier than a normal lace, but still with a great drape and a beautiful satin finish.  This lace is super luxurious and would make a stunning dress!
