This ex-designer fabric is an exquisite lace. It is a guipure or 'bobinnet' lace. Embroidered motifs are connected with thin plaits of yarn rather than the whole fabric being backed in a mesh. This is a more delicate and labour intensive process than making standard lace and is still done on the original machines. The design features medium dahlia-like flowers linked with the characteristic plaits. The edge is finished and follows the outline of the design. Light to medium weight with an incredible softness, very easy drape and lush handle Such a beautiful satin finish as well! Would make a gorgeous dress or use as a statement applique!
