The deep dive class will take place in our shop just around the corner from Broadway Market. It's about 15 minutes walk from Bethnal Green tube station, 10 minutes from London Fields and Cambridge Heath overground stations.

CLASS OVERVIEW

In this three hour class you will take a deep dive into everything zips! If you've ever struggled to insert a zip, get a professional finish or want to brush up on your zip finishing techniques, this is the class for you. You'll learn the professional way to insert a variety of zips and the best finishing methods, leaving you ready to tackle any sewing project with a zip. Our deep dive series are the classes we wish we'd taken when we started our sewing journeys - it would have saved us a lot of unpicking!

This is a practical class and you will complete each of the zip constructions!

TEACHER BIO

Lauren MacDonald is a multidisciplinary designer, writer, and the founder of textiles studio, Working Cloth. Her approach and aesthetic have been tempered through academic studies in material culture and textile science, vocational experience in the fashion industry, and an ongoing obsession with materiality, form, and function. Her practice is focused on traditional textile handcrafts and spans interaction design, installation, sculpture and stitched form. Her first book In Pursuit of Color: From fungi to fossil fuels: uncovering the origins of the world's most famous dyes was released in February 2023, her second book Piece by Piece: Modern Patchwork and Quilting Projects was released in 2024.

WHO IS THIS CLASS FOR?

This class is for anyone who would like to master zips and be able to face them confidently in all of their future projects.

CLASS INCLUDES:

+ Use of all tools including our PFAFF Expression 710 sewing machines.

+ All tools and materials required

+ A variety of zips and sample pieces to practice inserting each zip type
+ Tea and coffee

STUDENTS NEED TO BRING:

+ Nothing! Everything you need for this class is included in the price. You may want to bring a notebook for some extra notes.

WHERE?

The class will take place in our shop, just around the corner from Broadway Market. It's about 15 minutes walk from Bethnal Green tube station, 5 minutes from London Fields and Cambridge Heath Overground stations. The studio is at ground floor level with no steps. It is fully accessible and has a fully accessible toilet.
