This ex-designer fabric is an exquisite lace. It is a guipure or 'bobinnet' lace. Embroidered motifs are connected with thin plaits of yarn rather than the whole fabric being backed in a mesh. This is a more delicate and labour intensive process than making standard lace and is still done on the original machines. The design features navy flowers and swirls flowers linked with the characteristic plaits. Navy sequins and silver lurex threads intricately give the design depth and added luxurious sparkle. Medium weight with an incredible softness, very easy drape and lush cotton handle. Such a beautiful and eye-catching fabric, and truly one-of-a-kind! Would make a gorgeous dress, top, or use as a statement applique!
