PROJECT

Bored of sewing with cottons? Ready to take your sewing to the next level and learn how to create beautiful garments with drapey, silky fabrics? This class is for you! Over the day you'll learn how to accurately cut drapey fabrics on the bias, how to finish them beautifully with french seams and create a perfect rolled hem finish. You'll be sewing a wardrobe staple; a bias cut midi skirt. Perfect for wearing with a cami or t-shirt in summer and tights and boots in winter. Please note, the pattern we will be using has a hip measurement range of 83cm-154cm, if you fall outside of this range please let us know beforehand and we'll adjust the pattern for you.

WHAT WILL THIS COURSE COVER?

If you've got the hang of sewing with cottons, have used a paper pattern before and want to learn more about sewing with drapier fabrics, this class is for you! Suitable for beginner/intermediate sewists, the class will cover:

+ How to measure your body and pick a size
+ How to cut pattern pieces on the bias
+ How to sew slinky, drapey fabrics accurately
+ How to sew french seams
+ How to sew a rolled hem using a rolled hem foot

The skills learnt in this one day class will prepare you to tackle other sewing patterns at home.

WHO IS THIS CLASS FOR?

This class is suitable for beginner/intermediate sewists. Anyone who feels confident using a sewing machine and has used a paper pattern before. If you're a more experienced sewist it'll still be a fun day of sewing a beautiful skirt and you're welcome to join!

CLASS INCLUDES:

+ Use of our PFAFF Ambition 635 sewing machines in the classes. If you'd like to learn on your own machine then please do bring it along - please let us know the model in advance and bring your manual with you.
+ All tools and equipment
+ Elastic for the waistband
+ A printout pattern for you to use in the class, plus the full PDF pattern to download at home
+ Drinks and sweet treats to keep you going throughout the class.

STUDENTS NEED TO BRING:

+ Fabric (2-4m depending on size) and matching thread for your skirt. Fabric must have drape and be light to medium weight, a crepe de chine or crepe backed satin would work perfectly. We have thread available to buy in the studio if you need some on the day.
